Abstract

This proposal aims to support the dissemination of scientific knowledge generated by the Center for Carbon Research in Tropical Agriculture at the University of São Paulo (CCARBON/USP). The initiative includes monitoring external media, organizing events, and developing extension projects to assist collaborating researchers at the center. The center is headquartered at the "Luiz de Queiroz" College of Agriculture (ESALQ/USP) under the general direction of Carlos Eduardo Pellegrino Cerri, a professor in the Department of Soil Science. It operates under the USP Rector's Office and receives financial support from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). Established in 2023, the center originated from FAPESP's Research, Innovation, and Dissemination Centers Program (CEPID), (Process # 2021/10573-4). The project's main goal is to conduct scientific events fostering university extension through scientific journalism, led by proponent Nayana Alves Pereira. The aim is to publicize the research conducted by the center's researchers and promote public debate. The target audience includes students, rural producers, and the general public, with dissemination methodologies adapted to the audience and seasonality. This initiative contributes to raising awareness of economic, social, and environmental challenges, encouraging the resolution of local issues, and generating numerous benefits. The supervisor responsible for the proponent beneficiary is Prof. Tiago Osório Ferreira, a faculty member in the Department of Soil Science and the outreach director of CCARBON/USP.
