Abstract

The present work aims to develop and analyze a mechanized Glide Path instrument made of stainless steel to be used in endodontic engines. An instrument with pentagonal section will be developed in conjunction with a Brazilian instrument manufacturing company. Mechanical tests for cyclic and torsional fatigue will be performed. And the Glide Path will be performed in mesial canals of mandibular molars, buccal medium and buccal medium of maxillary molars, comparing with VDW's C-Pilot instruments used in oscillatory contra-angles. The Glide path time, the occurrence of errors with instrument fractures, deviations and perforations were analyzed. Teeth will be scanned before and after the Glide Path in computerized microtomogaphy. Torsional assays will be done after use and after the Glide Path. The data will be statistically analyzed.
