Abstract

The main objective of this project is to experimentally investigate the effects of forced vibrations during convective condensation inside channels. Thermal systems in general, such as air conditioning and refrigeration systems, have components with moving parts, such as compressors and fans, which eventually transmit vibrations to the heat exchangers. The transmitted vibrations may imply changes in the flow and heat transfer processes' dominant mechanisms. It is speculated that the vibrations may indicate the breakage of the liquid film, which may imply an increase in the heat transfer coefficient. However, controlled experiments are necessary to confirm the effects. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the effects of forced vibrations in horizontal micro and macro channels for the flow of refrigerant fluids R134a and R32. It is also expected to propose prediction methods for multiphase flow parameters, such as pressure loss, flow patterns, and heat transfer coefficient for conditions with forced vibrations. (AU)
