Abstract

Since the creation of the legislative studies database, the linkage with electoral databases has been carried out in a somewhat unsystematic manner. The codes used to identify representatives and senators must be linked to ballot numbers, the basic identifier used in databases containing electoral results. The ability to perform this integration relies on the use of each politician's voter registration number. This association is essential to enable the evaluation of politicians' careers and their actions in the legislature in relation to the observed electoral outcomes.
