Abstract

Electromechanical systems working in the quantum regime are at the forefront of several scientific and technological developments in the field of experimental quantum information. These systems can help to interconnect distinct quantum processing units, forming an important part of a distributed quantum computing network. Several groups are developing microwave-optical quantum transducers to perform this interconnection, where the acoustic degrees of freedom will make it possible to connect qubits in distinct processing units using microwave electrical circuits and fiber optical circuitry in the telecom band. The overarching goal of this project is the development of an electromechanical device suitable for being part of a microwave-optical quantum transducer.
