Abstract

Aesthetics play a big part in today's dentistry. Restorations of class III and IV are the most challenging one's, given the necessity of masking the mouth's dark background with an opaque resin. Hence, the aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of the depth of application of an opaque resin on the color adaptation of a monochromatic resin. To this end, conventional composite resin blocks (A2 color), which simulates cavity of class IV with depth of 3mm, will be manufactured in a PTFE matrix. They will be subdivided according to the depth of application of the opaque (n = 6) and application of the monochromatic resin: negative control (specimen in conventional resin), positive control (specimen in monochromatic resin), OS - without opaque resin, O2 - opaque at 2 mm depth and O1 - opaque at 1 mm depth. After photoactivation and polishing, the specimens will be evaluated using a gloss meter to check for standardization. The color adjustment potential (CAP) will be evaluated by visual and instrumental method (spectrophotometer) to compare the groups.
