Abstract

With the advent of digital dentistry, new materials have been studied for the fabrication of long-lasting restorations through additive and subtractive manufacturing. However, there is a lack of studies in the literature that evaluate the effects of simulated tooth brushing and staining on the extrinsic characterization layer applied to these materials. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze the color, gloss, roughness, and surface characteristics of two milled materials (Vita Enamic - VITA and Grandio Blocs - VOCO) and one hybrid material for additive manufacturing (Varseo Smile Crownplus - BEGO) after applying the extrinsic characterization layer, when subjected to simulated brushing and immersion in pigmented substances. This study will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will consist of the initial and final analysis (after simulated brushing) of the color, gloss, roughness, and surface characteristics using contact profilometry and scanning electron microscopy of the materials combined with the extrinsic characterization layer. In the second phase, the initial roughness, color, and gloss of the materials, with or without the extrinsic characterization layer, will be analyzed after exposure to pigmented substances (coffee, wine, 0.12% chlorhexidine, and artificial saliva - control group) at 60 and 120 hours, equivalent to 1 and 2 years, respectively, followed by re-evaluation. Finally, a manual repolishing will be performed using the Sof-Lex Spiral Disc polishing system, and the tests will be repeated. The data obtained will be analyzed to select the most appropriate statistical test for each experiment, with a significance level of 5%.
