Abstract

The analysis of DDoS attack prediction and detection depends on the construction of virtual environments in which the effects of this malicious activity do not cause harm to people or to the services offered in network environments. In this context, the use of attack emulation tools in virtual environments built with tools such as Docker and Kubernetes makes it possible to carry out experiments through network emulation in virtual environments, completely segregated from the network environments used by people and companies. Knowledge of the use of these tools is essential in conducting the activities carried out in the context of the MENTORED project, since it directly contributes to the evaluation of the quality of existing detection and prediction mechanisms, in addition to reducing the costs of acquiring and deploying equipment. This scientific initiation project aims to analyze how the use of DDoS attack emulation tools affects the process of evaluating the quality of DDoS attack prediction and detection mechanisms created in the MENTORED project.
