Abstract

This work seeks to understand the meaning of the texts by João Cruz Costa and Miguel Reale, and what they recognize as nacional philosophy. Whereas, seeks to understand their work as part of a wider institucional and philosophical context between 1930s and 1960s, as the struggle for the control of the University of São Paulo (USP) and the profissionalization of the philosophical field as the result of USPs creation. To understand this context, the research pursuit to reconstruct the conceitual apparatus as they were used by the authors during the autonomization of Philosophy. In this process, the authors constituted the initial experiences of the intelectual field - represented by João Cruz Costa and Miguel Reale - and pursuit to create and establish distinctions between them to consacrate theirs interpretation of national philosophy, and caracterize the other from their assumptions of the correct philosophy pratice. Therefore, the research pursuit to reconstruct the struggle around Philosophy as a university discipline in USP as a historically struggle, with each position relating to each other in the institucional, intellectual and social relations.
