Abstract

The cultivated potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is the fourth most consumed food in the world, being tetraploid, this has consequences for its improvement. The objective of this work is to verify the efficiency of the (di)haploidy inducing process in vivo, for the diplod potato breeding strategies. The experiment will be conducted in a cultivation house and laboratory, genotypes will be selected from the germplasm bank of the Vegetable Breeding Laboratory of the "Luiz de Queiroz" College of Agriculture. In the initial phase of their development, the plants will be exposed to photoperiod conditions together for floral induction to occur. The flowers will be emasculated and pollinated with the PL-4 inducer. After approximately 48 days, the berries will be harvested, the seeds will be removed and evaluated according to the presence of anthocinin pigmentation, with the desired seeds not having this stain. The seeds will be sown and cultivated in three months, after this period the ploidy will be checked in terms of their morphology, observing the number of chloroplasts present in their stomatal guard cells. Statistical analyzes will be carried out to verify the efficiency of the process, such as the percentage of fruit set, percentage of seeds, seeds marked with anthocyanin in the embryo per fruit, unmarked seeds per fruit, haploids per pollination, haploids per fruit and percentage of induction.
