Abstract

Identifying new materials suitable for radiation dosimetry remains challenging, and Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) is a key technique for assessing luminescent properties. Within the optically stimulated luminescence technique, CW-OSL is the most explored due to its easy experimental setup and fast acquisition of results. However, it is limited in not being able to separate components related to different dosimetric traps involved in luminescence process, preventing a physical characterization of the material. Due to these limitations, other techniques can be assessed, such as Linear-Modulated OSL (LM-OSL), Thermal-Modulated OSL (TM-OSL), Variable Energy Stimulation OSL and Band Shape Modulation OSL (BSM-OSL). Olivine has shown sensitivity to thermoluminescence with three defined peaks, and optically stimulated luminescence for blue and infrared stimulation. Due to the presence of more thermoluminescent peaks, it is possible that the CW-OSL curve is associated with different electron traps, making its analysis complex. Therefore, this study proposes to apply the Thermal and Optical Modulation OSL technique to olivine and carry out the theoretical analysis. This investigation will be supported by luminescent research group at Nicolaus Copernicus University that has expertise in OSL techniques. (AU)
