Abstract

Febrile Neutropenia is the most prevalent oncological emergency among pediatric patients and has a significant impact on prognosis and survival. This project aims to analyze the impact of the "Golden Hour" in the administration of antibiotic therapy in pediatric patients affected by Febrile Neutropenia, and will serve as a parameter to describe the care provided to these patients in the Referral Children's Emergency Department of UNESP Botucatu. This is a descriptive and prospective observational study to correlate the time of initiation of prescribed treatment for FN with clinical outcomes, considering the severity of the clinical condition, duration of hospitalization and morbidity and mortality of patients. The focus will be on the first hour after the onset of fever, known as the "Golden Hour", which is extremely important for reducing complications, given that infections in patients with NF progress very quickly to worsening cases. It is hoped to find a positive relationship between the brief administration of antibiotic therapy in the "Golden Hour" and better clinical outcomes, such as a reduction in the severity of complications and a reduction in hospitalization time and lethality.
