Abstract

This project is part of Phase 1 of the CCDB-TAEBS, which aims to identify the needs and knowledge gaps of teachers who work with deaf students. The research aims to develop a teaching unit focused on teaching Portuguese as a second language, with a focus on the comic strip genre. The proposal is aimed at deaf students served by CEPRE/UNICAMP and will be conducted in articulated stages. Initially, a profile survey of the class will be conducted through in-person observations and analysis of previously used materials. Next, a diagnosis of the students' proficiency will be made based on written productions in the selected genre, which will support a bibliographic review guided by the difficulties identified. Based on this reference, a teaching unit will be developed with progressive activities aimed at developing specific linguistic resources. The material will be applied and evaluated in the classroom, with records of students' reactions and analysis of the effectiveness of the proposed strategies. At the end, a report will be prepared containing the results and reflections on the process of creating accessible teaching materials, contributing to the improvement of pedagogical practices in teaching Portuguese as a second language for the deaf.
