Abstract

This project aims to conduct research in Lexicography, a field of General Linguistics within the social sciences. The analysis will investigate the functionalities of the digital tool Sketch Engine and its application in the development of corpora for Portuguese-English bilingual dictionaries. The theoretical support is based on the study of Corpus Linguistics, Digital Lexicography, and the Sketch Engine platform, which will be used as a database to exemplify the theories. The methodology is investigative and descriptive, with a qualitative approach to the problem. It involves a bibliographic review of theoretical principles related to Digital Lexicography and an investigation of the Sketch Engine platform to provide authentic examples. The study will detail the available features and how they are implemented in dictionary production, demonstrating the results through relevant lexicographic examples. The research adopts a bibliographic and analytical approach to identify the advantages and contributions of the platform in the development of digital dictionaries. The expected results will be presented in a scientific article and disseminated at academic conferences.
