Abstract

We intend to investigate the effects of quenched disorder in the phase transition of open quantum systems. To this end, we propose to develop a new approach which combines the strong-disorder renormalization-group (SDRG) method and the Lindbladian formalism. In addition, we plan to use recent techniques which combine the SDRG method with the adiabatic renormalization to study paradigmatic Hamiltonian models and to use theSDRG method within a field-theory formalism when the degrees of freedom of an external bath are traced out. Our strategies, if successful, will allow us to study a plethora of phase transitions in quantum open systems in the presence of quenched disorder where theoretical methods are scarce and desirable.
