Abstract

This Research Internship Grant (BEPE) project employs ethnographic methodologies to explore how personal and familial narratives of LGBTQIAP+ people shape the ways of territorialisation and policy-making within Shelter environments. The doctoral research encompasses a comparative analysis of three Shelter Homes in different regions of Brazil, each characterized by operational protocols and institutional frameworks. The centrality of these personal and familial narratives in the research is based on two fundamental premises. First, these narratives demonstrate how shelter spaces are constituted by the diverse forms of subjectivation of sheltered people. Second, they shed light on the mechanisms through which shelter policies are conceptualised and operationalised. The research hypothesis posits that an ethnographic investigation of LGBTQIAP+ sheltered people narratives uncovers the complex interplay between territorial formation and policy implementation, showing how these processes contribute to the creation of marginalized collective existences within shelter contexts.
