Abstract In knee osteoarthritis (KOA), educational interventions are recommended by international guidelines. Toevaluate educational interventions, aspects such as knowledge, beliefs, and expectations about the healthcondition can be investigated with the aim of understanding the effectiveness of these interventions inindividuals with chronic musculoskeletal pain. However, one of the challenges in assessing these aspects ineducational interventions is the availability of valid instruments. The OSTEOARTHRITISCONCEPTUALISATION QUESTIONNAIRE (OACQ) was developed to assess beliefs, knowledge, andexpectations that interfere with the lives of individuals with KOA. However, there is currently no Brazilianversion of the OACQ. Therefore, the aim of this study will be to perform the cross-cultural adaptation toBrazilian Portuguese and to verify the measurement properties (structural validity, internal consistency, reliability and measurement error, construct validity) of the OACQ in individuals with KOA. This is alongitudinal study that will involve a total of 180 participants diagnosed with KOA. The cross-culturaladaptation process will occur in five stages: initial translation, synthesis of translation, back-translation, expertcommittee meeting, and pre-final version testing, which will be conducted with an initial sample of 30participants. After completing the pre-final version testing, the entire sample (n=180) will be considered in thestage of verifying the measurement properties. For statistical analysis, the Intraclass Correlation Coefficientwill be used to analyze reliability, and confirmatory factor analysis will be employed for structural validity.Measurement error will be calculated using the minimal detectable change. Spearman's correlationcoefficient will be used for construct validity- hypothesis testing, comparing OACQ scores with othercomparison instruments. It is expected to provide an appropriate assessment tool in Brazilian Portuguese tomeasure the concepts, knowledge, and expectations of individuals with KOA. (AU) | |
