Abstract

Petrochronology is an integrated approach that relates time to specific processes of rock formation and their physical conditions, using different dating methods linked to the quantification of pressure and temperature conditions, thus being able to correlate geological events with age. The Southern Brasília Belt is characterized by a belt of Neoproterozoic folds formed during the collision between the São Francisco and Paranapanema cratons. Associated with this orogen are several granulite rocks related to partial melting processes. This master's project studies the temperature, pressure, and age conditions of granulites from the Anápolis-Itauçu Complex, in the Southern Brasília Belt region of Americano do Brasil (GO). This work has two main objectives: to characterize the P-T conditions and the ages of the metamorphic processes expressed in the granulites of the study area. Thus, U-Pb ages in zircon, rutile, titanite, and Lu-Hf in garnet should be correlated with the metamorphic processes, through metamorphic modeling, recorded in the granulites. The combination of methods used in this work will advance geological knowledge of Brazil's central-western region and the crustal evolution processes. (AU)
