Abstract

This Research Internship Abroad (RIA) is part of a postdoctoral fellowship linked to the project "Science Centers for Development: Cancer Control in the State of São Paulo (ConeCta-SP): from knowledge to action," which focuses on implementation research for cervical and breast cancer screening. Cervical cancer remains a major public health issue in Brazil, with significant regional disparities and ongoing challenges in transitioning to organized screening. The internship will support the development and validation of an interactive tool for cervical cancer screening, integrating epidemiological, demographic, and service capacity data to optimize health planning and decision-making. The tool will incorporate artificial intelligence algorithms to simulate scenarios using cytology and HPV testing as primary screening methods, enabling dynamic analysis of resource needs. The internship will be conducted at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), under the supervision of Dr. André Lopes Carvalho, strengthening ongoing collaboration with ConeCta-SP. The experience will allow deep methodological training, access to robust international expertise, and the consolidation of technical-scientific capacity for the development of tools that enhance public health policy implementation in Brazil. The proposal aligns with national priorities for cancer control and technological innovation in healthcare.
