Abstract

Early Childhood Education has as its central characteristic the binomial care-education (Pasqualini; Martins, 2008) and its workforce is mostly female (Brasil, 2023). Having said this, this paper discusses the historical components of work related to care (Leite, 2023) and, therefore, the historical and mostly female presence in work with young children (Paschoal; Machado, 2009). Based on the conceptions of human development of Historical-Cultural Psychology and Historical-Critical Pedagogy and the defense of the scientific nature of the content taught in the school years (Saviani, 2003), this research project seeks to investigate what relationships are established between care actions and pedagogical work in Early Childhood Education, taking into account the role socially attributed to women, the position of care work in capitalist society and the historical process of professionalization of educational work aimed at early childhood. To this end, the study is based on the philosophical foundations of historical-dialectical materialism (Delari Junior, 2009) and considerations regarding the production of theoretical research in this epistemological field (Salina, 2024). With this in mind, the Scielo database was used to search for scientific articles published in the last ten years, using the keywords care and early childhood education. As for the operationalization of this work, three readings of the productions will be carried out. The last one will be accompanied by a summary and organization of the contents based on the categories identified, taking into account the process of historical and social determinations of the phenomena found. Finally, the content investigated in the selected bibliography will be synthesized based on the objective set. (AU)
