Abstract

This project primarily aims to make the scientific knowledge produced by the Laboratory of Assessment and Intervention in Gerontology (LAIG) at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) accessible to a broader audience, particularly regarding the care of older adults living with dementia. The proposal entails the development of informative content in plain language, grounded in scientific evidence, directed toward family caregivers, healthcare professionals, and other individuals involved in the everyday care of people with this condition. The initiative seeks to translate technical and academic content on dementia-generated by the LAIG research group-into audiovisual and textual formats to be disseminated via the group's social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube). This strategy aims to expand outreach and foster the democratization of information. The use of plain language will ensure comprehension by diverse audiences, thereby upholding the right to communication and information as essential components of healthcare.Aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals-particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being)-the project aspires to reduce disparities in access to knowledge about dementia care, challenge prevalent misconceptions, raise public awareness, and promote more humane and individualized caregiving practices. The methodology will involve selecting scientific materials produced by LAIG, adapting them into accessible formats, scripting and producing videos, texts, and images for dissemination via social media. Furthermore, an official YouTube channel will be established to enhance the group's digital presence and ensure the continuity of accessible scientific communication. (AU)
