Abstract

This Scientific Initiation research proposal aims to identify the presence of the historical and social dimension that the nature of matter and human action play, assimilating a historical analysis of the means of producing and consuming the resources available in the natural environment. To this end, object of study is the Palma Art Studio, created in 1948 by a partnership between Lina Bo partnership between Lina Bo Bardi, Pietro Maria Bardi and Giancarlo Palanti. presents testimony to their dedication to culture, the visual arts, architecture and design. This research will be based on a bibliographical review and documentary analysis that aspects of sustainability related to its pioneering conceptual production of furniture design, outlining parallels between the design line and the line and Lina Bo Bardi's perspectives from the point of view of how her craft is related to the mobilization of wood and national materials, reflecting on the context of environmental history and the history of design. The aim is to supportboth the enrichment of the Palma Art Studio's bibliography and to investigate how the principles of sustainability were incorporated into the processes of production of national furniture, expanding the academic and conceptual rangethe modernist period of Brazilian design.
