Abstract

This work aims to research the multidimensionality and multiscalarity of socio-spatial and socio-territorial movements, thus analyzing disputes and conflicts in urban space in the metropolis of São Paulo (SP). The research project arises from the analysis of the Database of Struggles for Spaces and Territories (DATALUTA) and is based around the understanding of the data collected and systematized, work that has been carried outsince my first year as a geography undergraduate. The synthesis of this discussion and reflection lies in the understanding that at the same time that socio-spatial and socio-territorial movements produce the city, they are also produced by it. In order to carry out a theoretical-conceptual discussion, we will work from the socio-spatialand socio-territorial approach and its applicability in the spatial and territorial analysis of urban movements and the construction of an understanding of the concept of the city. The aim of this project is to identify themulti-scalarity and multi-dimensionality of urban socio-spatial and socio-territorial movements whose actions are intensifying in the city of São Paulo (SP), and to understand how they are articulated in the dispute over space and territory, with mediated and appropriated space being a totality in which the contradictions produced by society are manifested.
