Abstract

The wide objective of this research is to theoretically analyze how the philosophy of Vladimir S. Solovyov, especially that which he presents in Theoretical Philosophy (Solovyov, 1988g), may have become one of the philosophical sources, firstly, for the moral philosophy of Mikhail M. Bakhtin, with the problems of epistemology that it necessarily implies in its systematic framework, and, secondly, for his literary aesthetics, both theoretical fronts understood as constitutive dimensions and corollaries of his philosophical anthropology. Based on the assumption of the premise regarding the existence of epistemic traces of Solovyov's philosophy in conceptions developed by Bakhtin, a possible set of parallels and interlocutions will be explored and analyzed between the works of the latter, such as Art and Answerability (2003b), Toward a Philosophy of the Act (2003c), Author and Hero in Aesthetic Activity (2003b), and Problems of Dostoevsky's Poetics (2000), and the text of Theoretical Philosophy (1988g) by the former, also in comparison with the ideas developed by Solovyov in The Justification of the Good (1988d), The Meaning of Love (1988f), and in two of his essays on aesthetics (Solovyov, 1988c; 1988e). Through this proposal, it is hoped to achieve greater clarity regarding the philosophical relationship between Bakhtin and Solovyov, still little explored within the context of Brazilian academia, given that the understanding of the theoretical foundations of Bakhtin's thought will essentially contribute to Bakhtinian studies in Brazil by addressing one of his most important philosophical sources, especially by simultaneously proposing an unprecedented translation into Portuguese of Solovyov's work Theoretical Philosophy, possibly one of the most central originating axes of Bakhtin's less clarified conceptions, such as the concept of truth and the critique of psychologism which he develops in Toward a Philosophy of the Act (Bakhtin, 2003c).
