Abstract

The presence of contaminants originating from industrial, hospital, and human consumption waste in the environment is a global concern due to the effects these contaminants can have on both the environment and human health. Therefore, this project aims to synthesize, characterize, and apply mixed metal oxide (MMO) anodes based on the composition of a commercial MMO, (RuO¿)¿.¿¿-(TiO¿)¿.¿¿, using an alternative synthesis route based on eutectic solvents. These anodes will then be applied to the electrocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants. The physical characterization of the films will be performed using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive analysis, and Raman spectroscopy. Electrochemical characterizations will be carried out using voltammetric techniques and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Various parameters affecting contaminant degradation, such as matrix and process application time, will be evaluated. Finally, the degradation processes will be monitored using chromatographic methods to quantify the oxidized contaminants and identify degradation intermediates. (AU)
