Abstract

In recent decades, due to the search for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the emergence of new technologies, the electrification of aircraft has gained momentum in Brazil and worldwide. Aircraft manufacturers are investing in research to make electric propulsion systems viable, of which electric machines are a fundamental part. The problem is that optimizing electric machine designs is often a complex, non-automated iterative process. Therefore, this project aims to develop an algorithm for optimizing permanent magnet synchronous machine designs, focusing on aircraft propulsion. Two algorithms based on different optimization methods, NSGA-II and MOPSO, will be implemented. The algorithms will be applied to the design of a machine and compared in relation to obtaining the Pareto frontier. Finally, the performance characteristics of the machine, before and after optimization, will be analyzed using the finite element method. (AU)
