Abstract

Flow forecasting is a challenge that is constantly addressed when it comes to watershed management, especially because the disorderly occupation of cities has created a reality where rain events can cause a series of environmental and socio-environmental impacts at any time, as is the case in the city of São Carlos-SP. In this context, the work to be developed in this project will use an elevation model obtained by the Remotely Piloted Aircraft (ARP) and images from the Sentinel-2 satellite to calculate the Topographic Wetness Index (TWI) and Normalized Difference Moisture Index (NDMI) as moisture indicator tools, essential for selecting the Curve Number, a parameter used in the United States Soil Conservation Service (SCS-CN) method of separating effective rainfall. Finally, the values ¿¿obtained will be applied directly to the SWMM model, using a pre-calibrated model. The integration of these tools with the CN method can offer an innovative approach for the characterization of initial soil hydrological conditions, varying in time and space, providing scientific support for greater accuracy in flood forecasting and, consequently, for environmental and urban management and extreme climate events.
