Abstract

Diseases associated with the biliary tract in felines, especially in surgical intervention scenarios, are rare but potentially serious conditions that require a specialized diagnostic and therapeutic approach. This project aims to conduct a retrospective study of surgical cases involving cholecystectomy, cholecystoduodenostomy, and choledochotomy in felines treated at the Veterinary Hospital of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science of the University of São Paulo (USP) during the period from 2015 to 2025, through the analysis of available clinical records. In addition, a study and critical review of the current literature on the subject will be conducted, complemented by direct contact with the owners of the animals that underwent surgery, using previously developed and standardized questionnaires. The objective of this contact is to investigate the clinical conditions of the patients in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative periods, as well as to collect information on the evolution, quality of life, and possible complications that occurred after the procedures. The retrospective analysis will allow for a deeper understanding of the different stages of the clinical condition of patients who underwent these surgeries, in addition to enabling a comparison between actual clinical findings and the scientific evidence available in the literature, identifying progression patterns, potential prognostic factors, and possible shortcomings in the therapeutic approaches adopted.
