Abstract

The municipality of Rio Claro (SP) frequently experiences flooding due to the removal of vegetation cover, channelization of watercourses, and intense soil impermeabilization, especially in the Servidão Stream basin, which runs beneath Avenida Visconde de Rio Claro. This project aims to assess flood patches in this basin under different precipitation and land use scenarios by analyzing municipal precipitation data and case studies, simulating various land use and precipitation volume scenarios, and comparing the impacts of different land uses on flood patch formation. The methodology includes analyzing rainfall data from CHIRPS (2023-2024) using Google Earth Engine, creating a Digital Terrain Model, and mapping land use and land cover using supervised classification with Deep Learning. These data will serve as a basis for flood simulations in the HEC-RAS software. The results will help understand the impacts of land use on flood patch formation and simulate future scenarios in the face of climate change, providing support for urban and environmental planning. The study will mainly contribute to evaluating the flood area in the Servidão Stream basin using recent software, considering aspects of climate change and the relationship between land use and the hydrological dynamics of the study area.
