Abstract

Chikungunya fever (CHIKF) is a viral arbovirosis transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, with symptoms including high fever, joint pain, and fatigue. In Brazil, the virus was introduced in 2014, and by 2024, more than 188,000 suspected cases had been reported, representing a 67% increase compared to the previous year. The disease has a significant impact on public health due to its clinical similarity to other arboviruses and the potential for chronic symptom persistence. This cross-sectional study, approved by the Research Ethics Committee of FAMERP (CAAE: 83386024.7.0000.5415), analyzes data from 2014 to 2024 in the region of GVE XXIX - São José do Rio Preto (São Paulo), aiming to identify the case profile and factors associated with hospitalization. The study seeks to identify risk groups, such as the elderly and individuals with comorbidities, and to contribute to surveillance and vector control strategies. (AU)
