Abstract

Within the scope of the associated JP2 project, this plan proposes the development and application of a tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS) and tip-enhanced Photo-Luminescence (TEPL) systems coupled to a scanning tunneling microscope (STM), employing a parabolic mirror inside the ultra-high vacuum chamber. This configuration will enable the integration of scanning tunneling microscopy-induced luminescence (STM-L), TEPL, and TERS, thus combining atomic-scale resolution in topography and electronic structure with optical and vibrational characterization at the nanometer scale. The focus will be on transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) and hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), aiming to elucidate the correlation between morphology, electronic properties, and optical emission, as well as to investigate single-photon emitters.
