Abstract

As an important component of air pollution, the efficient removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is one of the most significant global challenges. VOCs are harmful to both the environment and human health. They are organic compounds found in the gaseous state under ambient temperature and pressure conditions and participate in photochemical reactions in the atmosphere. These compounds mainly include hydrocarbons, aldehydes, and ketones. Therefore, it is extremely necessary to pursue technologies that are clean, efficient, and robust in removing these contaminants. The electro-scrubbing technology for gaseous volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the liquid phase can offer great advantages due to its high removal efficiency, mild operating conditions, good reliability, broad applicability, and low potential for secondary pollution - which has attracted considerable research interest over the past decade.
