Abstract This research internship project abroad is part of our doctoral research and aims to justify and detail the activities to be carried out at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. The overall objective of our research is to investigate how language students approach literature in teletandem interactions with their peers in order to highlight the literariness of the texts. To this end, the execution of the methodological procedures necessary for data collection, which is a fundamental stage of our investigation, needs to be carried out at Georgetown University, so that we can better organize the development and logistics of the teletandem interactions that will constitute our corpus and find the best strategies for managing the recordings of these sessions. The activities to be developed at the host university also include monitoring Portuguese as a foreign language (PFL) classes, promoting Portuguese language conversation circles on literary texts, and offering mini-courses on Brazilian literature for PFL students. Thus, in addition to enabling us to achieve our research objectives, this scholarship will contribute to the dissemination of Brazilian literature at the partner university and to the improvement of our academic, pedagogical, and professional qualifications. We also consider that the study abroad period will contribute to the expansion of proposals on the use of literary texts in teletandem and in contexts of teaching Portuguese as a foreign language (PFL). Furthermore, this research can raise important reflections on the relationships between literature, culture, and language, as well as demonstrate the relevance of literature for the construction of language teaching and learning processes that emphasize the symbolic dimension of intercultural exchanges. | |
