Abstract

In this project, we propose an investigation of the electronic band structure of YFe6Ge6 single crystals by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) experiments. This metallic material undergoes and antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition at T_N=480 K, associated with the ordering of the Fe spins. The Fe sub-lattice is a layered structure organized in a Kagome lattice, making YFe6Ge6 an example of a strongly interacting spin system in a Kagome lattice. Single crystals of this material were only recently synthesized by our group and collaborators. Our work will be supported by DFT+DMFT calculations. This project aims at the education of a scientist in the methods of the experimental characterization of the electronic band structure of metals and is concomitantly motivated by a hot topic in condensed matter physics.
