Abstract

To develop cytogenetic techniques such as the preparation of mitotic and meiotic chromosomes and the identification of synaptonemal complex structures through immunofluorescence, as well as to apply molecular biology methodologies including DNA extraction, PCR, and gel electrophoresis. The project aims to provide the student with practical experience ranging from field collection to laboratory procedures used in genetic and evolutionary studies of fish, fostering an understanding of chromosomal variability and its biological implications. In this way, it is expected to contribute to the student's scientific training and to stimulate interest in research on genetics and animal cytogenetics.
