Abstract

Representing data as networks has proven to be a powerful tool for analyzing political, social, and scientific events, facilitating the identification and visualization of intricate patterns. In the Brazilian context, parliamentary voting behavior and political discourse highlight the relationships between parties and ideological currents. It is therefore essential to use computational techniques that can organize and interpret this data clearly and effectively. The sheer volume of legislative documents makes it difficult to immediately perceive trends, creating a need for tools that enable organized and dynamic analysis. Accordingly, this project aims to develop a system for examining and displaying parliamentary voting networks in Brazil using the Sigma.js library. By representing members of parliament as nodes interconnected by their voting similarities, the system will make it possible to identify alliances and oppositions. It will also incorporate the analysis of political speeches, processed and summarized by Large Language Models (LLMs), to provide a more comprehensive understanding of legislative narratives. The temporal progression of these relationships will also be examined, allowing for the tracking of shifts over legislative terms. The proposed system will not only enrich research in this field but also offer the student researcher an opportunity to enhance their academic and computational skills as applied to legislative analysis.
