Abstract This theoretical-practical research seeks to reflect, map and structure methodological procedures for working with and on artist-researchers, investigating how practices of displacement of the hegemonic notion of autonomy in the subject (as being independent of the other and owner of oneself and one's knowledge) can contribute to open discussions in the field of artistic practice as research. Considering the contemporary problems in this field concerning the relationship between theory/practice, subject/object and research methodologies in the arts, this project focuses on the existing gaps in: pedagogical procedures that serve artist-researchers and teachers/advisors in accompanying them; and methodological practices of displacing oneself and crossing the other, for the emergence of situated, decolonial and collaborative research. Taking the conceptaphor dis.autonomy developed in my doctorate as a starting point, the Dis.autonomous Practices to be investigated are based on the perspectives of a codependent and inclined subject (Judith Butler; Adriana Cavarero), betting on the power of working on oneself (Yasuo Yuasa; Cassiano S. Quilici) and on doing as knowing in the production of situated knowledge (Luis Rufino; Luis A. Simas; Donna Haraway). With the hypothesis of operating in this displacement of the subject, and with the aim of structuring practices for artist-researchers and teachers/advisors, the Dis.autonomous Practices are divided into 4 research axes: a) Dis.autonomous Archive (displacement of the self and of records/materialities); b) Re.existence Practices (situating and recreating habits and questions of research); c) Wordwatters (the writing as a field of research and creation); d) Oraculations (to name, recognize and guide pathways). To this end, the project is expected to result in 4 large and open laboratories and the production of 4 articles, one on each axis of research (as well as 2 courses to be taught at the host institution). | |
