Abstract

Sample preparation techniques have become increasingly important in chemical analysis, manly due to the low concentration levels of the analytes present in complex matrices. Therefore, methods that simplify analyte pre-concentration are highly relevant nowadays, especially those that incorporate continuous flow, miniaturization and integration with analysis systems, such as "lab-on-a-chip" platforms. Furthermore, it is necessary to develop techniques and methods for sample preparation that are greener, by reducing the use of toxic reagents and the sample volume. In this sense, 3D Printing can contribute through its flexibility in device fabrication, allowing to incorporate several complex structures. In this project TPMS (Triply Periodic Minimal Surface) structures will be employed to manufacture a porous membrane, which will be 3D printed (using photo-polymerized resins) and coupled with an electromembrane extraction (EME) device, operating under continuous flow. This EME device will enable the selective and reproductible pre-concentration of Triclosan, a bactericide with a potential endocrine disruptor activity. (AU)
