Abstract

The research project shown herewith intends to analyze how abandoned children from broken homes lived in the turn of the XX Century in the city of Ribeirão Preto under the tutelage of the Anália Franco's Children's Home since its inception in 1917 up to 1930. The aim of this study is to follow the action of such an institution which is one of the first to get established to help in the assistance of destitute and/or abandoned children. It was subsidized by the State until 1930 when there was a change in Government and such subsidies dried out. The assistance and education of abandoned girls in the region of Ribeirão Preto will be compared with Analia Franco's broader social work in both the state and city of São Paulo. (AU)
