Abstract

Bovine papillomatosis is an infectious disease presenting lesions in skin and/or mucosa in mammals, including man. These lesions cause dramatic hazards to the milk and meat production. Papillomaviruses are double-strand DNA viruses and the related lesions can regress or progress to cancer. In cattle, BPV2 causes cutaneous fibropapillomas and bladder cancer. In the bladder cancer, the disease comes from the association between virus action and bracken fern. The development of vaccines to Bovine Papillomavirus is a very relevant procedure, for prevention and/or therapeutic. For these purposes, the improvement of the knowledgement concerning viral proteins is a special challenge. In this study, our aim is to clone and express BPV2 E6 gene, in order to obtain basic data to contribute to further vaccine methologies.
