Abstract

The aim of this research is to evaluate the effects of aging heat treatments on microstructure and properties of Ti-Nb-Sn alloys. Such a study will be developed by preparing Ti-Nb-Sn samples in an arc furnace under controlled atmosphere. Following, the ingots will be submitted to hot plastic deformation and heat treatment at different temperatures and period of time. The samples will be characterized by applying optic and scanning electron microscopies, X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). As a function of the results obtained, some of the samples will selected and characterized by using tensile test and acoustic tests for elastic modulus measurements.
