Abstract

The Carrancas Group os divided in two formations, São Tomé das Letras and Campestre. The first is dominated by quartzites and the second by quartzite and schist alternation. Previous metamorphic maps have small detail over rocks croping out on Carrancas, Bicas and Moleque hills. Schists of Campestre Formation are richer in Al2O3, and plot above garnet-chlorite tie line and metamorphic zones observed in this kind of rocks are different from classical barrovian type. This allows to infer more isograds and zones, producing a more detailed metamorphic map. The metamorphic evolution for Carrancas Group is the main subject of this project, as well as the relationship between metamorphism and deformation. P-T conditions will be determined with thermobarometry for four samples, at least, covering the geographic extremes of investigates area
