Abstract

In the last decades, many studies have been performed to the understanding of neurobiological bases of physical exercise to the maintenance and improvement of neural function in adult and elderly. Although the effects of physical exercise in the mature brain are well documented, its influence in the developing brain has been little explored. Events occuring during prenatal development may result in positive and negative changes to the brain throughout life. To this end, the present study aims to examine the influence of physical exercise on prenatal brain development. For this purpose, the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression, tropomyosin-related kinase B receptor (TrkB), p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75ntr), cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1), conexins (Cx32, Cx36 e Cx43), cAMP response-element-binding protein (CREB), phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K), mitogen regulated kinase (MEK), extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type 4 (CaMK4) will be analyzed at different stages of postnatal brain development (P1, P7, P21 and P60) of pups borned from trained mothers during pregnancy.
