Abstract

The project has as objective to determine the refraction index of human hair fibers, bovine enamel and dentine before and after chemical treatments and to evidence the changes in their structure. In order to do that, the hair fibers, enamel and dentine samples will be optically qualified by the use of Optical Coherence Tomography. In the enamel and dentine cases, after the treatment with the Whiteness HP bleaching agent gel, these optical properties will be once more determinated. The hair fibers will be subjected to commonly used commercial chemical products and to straighting tratments, as well as to coloration treatments (in colaboration with Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas/USP). The modifications will be followed during the whole process.
