Abstract

Anemia was recognized in patients with heart failure and was associated with other clinical variables and outcome. There are few published studies of Brazilian series of patients with heart failure that evaluated anemia. We hypothesized that anemia may also be common in Brazilian outpatients and associated with other demographic, clinical, laboratory variables and prognosis. The objectives of the present study are to evaluate the prevalence of the anemia in outpatients with heart failure and the association of anemia with demographic and clinical variables in a large series of outpatients with heart failure referred for evaluation in a cardiology hospital.
