Abstract

The importance of Listeria monocytogenes in human health is justified by the ability of this agent to be transmitted by food and to be lethal in outbreaks. Studies about the frequency of this bacteria in swine slaughterhouses and butchery are been conducting in Brazil. The goal of present study is analyze strains isolated in these points of pork production chain in São Paulo State comparing with strains isolated from human cases through a PCR based on primers that target Enterobacterial Repetitive Intergenic Consensus Sequences (ERIC-PCR)
