Abstract

The statin medicine is inhibitor HGM-CoA (hydroxymethylglutaryl - Coenzyme A), produces cellular responses like reducing the synthesis of LDL (low density lipoprotein) and VLDL (very low density lipoprotein). The HGM-CoA, from acetyl-CoA, is responsible for the release of mevalonate, an important precursor of cholesterol. So is indicated for the treatment of hyperlipidemia and hypercholesterolemia. The intense therapy indication has provided a significant turnover of billions of dollars annually to the Pharmaceutical Industry. Therefore, it became necessary to find its effects, especially in the early months of pregnancy, a period that occurs embryogenesis and organogenesis in the human body. This work aims at achieving the comparative study of the development of the palate and the development of dental germs of the first upper and lower molars of embryos of mice under the action of simvastatin during organogenesis.
