Abstract

The research project intends to develop a Brazilian network which will be pioneer in Brazil, for transmitters geolocation through satellites, using Doppler shift of transmitted signal. Several stations positioned in different areas of Brazil, which will collect satellites data, will compose the Brazilian network. The collected data considering several terrestrial reception stations and only one satellite pass will supply a greater amount of measures a transmitter (greater observability). This fact will increase the transmitters’ geolocation accuracy results. An algorithm will be developed using the ordering method by selection considering the Brazilian Data Collection Satellite (SCD-2) and the NOAA series North American satellite for data collection and two terrestrial reception stations, located in Cuiabá and in Alcântara. Analyses of the effects of errors inserted or not inserted in the measures will be made to simulate realistic and not realistic conditions. Comparative analyses of the amount of measures received by the satellites and stations will be accomplished, as well as the fixed transmitters geographical location using the same data. Satellites ephemeris will be refined using an orbit propagation algorithm, as well as alternative methods of orthogonalization technique for the least squares processing procedure. It is expected that the geographical location precision result attain values below 1km. A pilot project will be assembled so that the system becomes operational, a unique and pioneer system in the country.
