Abstract

The corn is the most important commercial plant with origin in America. The corn crop is among the one of higher productivity potential, although in Brazil this potential is behind of desirable to this crop. For obtaining of high productivities and viable economically, the mineral nutrition is one of the essential factors and nitrogen is the nutrient that provides the largest effects in the increase of this productivity. The objective of this study is to evaluate doses of covered urea, slow liberation of N, as well as minimizing the losses of N for volatilization, comparing it with the traditional urea, on production components and productivity of the crop, besides nitrogen content in leaves. The work will be conducted at Experimental Station of UNESP, Ilha Solteira Campus, located in Selvíria-MS. The soil is a clayey dystrophic RED LATOSSOLO. A randomized complete blocks design, with four repetitions, being two sources of nitrogen (KimCoat LGU - gradual liberation of N, besides the traditional urea) applied at sidedressing, in the stadium of 6-8 leaves, in 4 doses (0, 40, 80 and 120 kg ha-1), will be used. It will be evaluated: the fall index, basal diameter of the stem, content of N in the leaves, number of grains per liner, number of rows per cob, mass of 100 grains and productivity of grains.
