Abstract

This work deals with the synthesis and characterization of novel Mn, Fe, Co, Cu and Zn chelates containing hydrolyzed proteins of bovine milk serum. The idea consists in to prepare and use metallic chelates containing natural ligands as alimentary supplementation in ovines. Recent studies have demonstrated a considerable increase of the oligoelement bioavailability when administrated in the chelating fashion, in comparison with inorganic salts commonly used as mineral sources. Besides that the milk serum, a proteic sub product from lacticínio industry, has been inadvertently discarded in rivers carrying out serious ambient risks. This project will have the collaboration of Prof. Dr. Rubens Monti (Laboratório de Enzimologia, Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas, UNESP-Araraquara) and Prof. Dr. Otávio Campos Neto (Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, UNESP-Botucatu).
